Emilie and Kevin are married! They said “I Do” overlooking the water on the beautiful lawn of the Powel Crosley Wedding venue last month and I’m so happy for them!

This was SUCH a fun day – the wedding party was relaxed and laid back, the amazing planners at PLANNER INFO HERE kept things on track, and we ended the night with some seriously cool dance moves – especially by Caleb, Emilie and Kevin’s two-year-old son!

Caleb even busted some moves to Michael Jackson in the early part of the day when his dad was helping him get dressed. I love a good MJ dance party and this kid brought the heat! Everyone was cheering him on and the groomsmen were getting into it – that’s my kind of start to the day!

The Seagate, Powel Crosley Wedding & Events Venue
The Seagate, Powel Crosley Estate Wedding Venue is a Mediterranean Revival-style mansion built overlooking the waters of Sarasota Bay. In 1929, Powel Crosley built the home for his wife Gwendolyn (ummm best gift ever! Looking at you, Sam ;)) and it’s one of the most sought-after venues in southwest Florida!
It features gorgeous floor-to-ceiling marble, elegant mahogany details, a beautiful lawn that overlooks Sarasota Bay and incredible sunsets, and indoor and outdoor ceremony, cocktail, and reception options. Emilie and Kevin had beautiful weather and chose to have their ceremony overlooking the water, their cocktail hour in the nearby pergola, and their reception, dinner, and dance on the outdoor dance floor and lawn.
Emilie and Kevin are from New York City, so they wanted a venue that had beautiful architecture like their home but also showcased the natural Florida flora and fauna, and the Powel Crosley did not disappoint. If you’re looking for an elegant way to introduce your guests to the beauty of southwest Florida, the Powel Crosley Wedding venue is the way to go!
Wedding Day at the Powel Crosley
This day was so fun for me because I was second shooting for a very dear friend of mine, the lovely Deanna of Deanna Grace Photography! We met a few years back at a styled shoot and I have a total photographer-girl crush on her. She’s so sweet and it was so much fun making this day special for Emilie and Kevin alongside her!

We started the day by capturing Emilie and Kevin getting ready with their wedding parties, then capturing Emilie’s details, dress, and florals. Emilie and Kevin had a very sweet first look and because we were running a little behind, we moved right into wedding party photos and then family photos before hiding the bride, groom, and their party members indoors as guests started to arrive.

Emilie and Kevin wanted a short ceremony because they wanted to get their guests into the pergola and shade for their cocktail hour. They exchanged vows overlooking the water and under the shade of a few live oaks on the edge of the property. It was lovely and such a gorgeous way to highlight the Florida landscape they love so much!
During cocktail hour, the planner and her team finished the reception area. It was so stunning on the lawn under the twinkling lights. Dinner kicked off a beautiful and delicious way to start the rest of the evening!

Finally, it was time for the dance – and this is one of the true assets of the Powel Crosley Estate wedding venue! As the sun sets, you get a spectacular view of the sunset over the water and as darkness sets in, the suspended twinkling lights add such a soft and romantic glow to the feel of your dance floor.

And then the real party begins!
Vibes: Dance Mood at the Powel Crosley
Caleb kicked everyone off with his cute little moves once his mom and dad were done with their first dance, the mother and son dance, and the father-daughter dance. Everyone followed this little guys’ cue and started rocking on the dance floor!
Some of my favorite images were after Emilie changed from her gown into a shorter, lighter number. I LOVE THIS TREND. Why didn’t anyone in the industry think of this year’s ago? What a wonderful way to add something different and fun to the night while also making yourself comfortable!

After a bouquet toss and cake cutting, the video and photo team packed up and said goodbye to the couple. It’s always bittersweet saying goodbye to couples – we love you so much and have such a strong bond after the wedding day!
It was another perfect day at the Powel Crosley wedding venue and I can’t wait to show off Savannah and Ryan’s day soon. (Update – you can read that blog here)
Thoughts on booking the Powel Crosley Estate for Your Wedding Venue
Elegant, sophisticated, and timeless – that’s how I would describe the Powel Crosley Estate! It’s popular not just because of its beauty but of how wonderful the staff is to work with.
Any wedding planner will tell you that they love planning weddings here because the venue coordinators are just wonderful and are there to make your wedding day happen the way you are envisioning it. They also offer comprehensive pricing packages and allow you to build the package you want for yourself.

You can host micro weddings, weddings of up to 900 guests, elopements, styled shoots, engagement sessions, etc and only use the parts of the grounds or building that meet your needs – no need to rent the entire space if you are having a smaller event!
Because of this flexibility, and the various spaces available to brides and grooms (especially in cases of inclement weather) it’s one of my top recommendations for brides and grooms looking for a mansion wedding in southwest Florida.
